Strategy's total bitcoin reserves now stand at 761,068 BTC, purchased for a cumulative $57.61 billion since August 2020. This transaction ranks among the company's five largest bitcoin acquisitions ever. Just the week before, Strategy had already bought 17,994 BTC for $1.28 billion.
Why This Matters
Strategy remains the world's largest corporate bitcoin holder by a wide margin. Its consistent, large-scale weekly purchases signal sustained institutional demand for BTC even amid market uncertainty. The company's model of funding bitcoin acquisitions through securities issuance has become a blueprint for public companies looking to adopt crypto treasury strategies.
Funding the Purchase Through Securities Sales
Strategy financed the acquisition by selling two types of securities. The issuance of 11.9 million preferred Stretch shares (STRC) generated $1.18 billion, while the sale of 2.8 million common shares (MSTR) brought in an additional $396 million.
Founder Michael Saylor stated that STRC has become the most liquid preferred stock instrument on the market.

Remaining funds will be deployed as follows:
- $132 million for loan repayments;
- $39.5 million for bitcoin options collateral.
Market corrections pushed Metaplanet's debt-to-crypto-asset ratio to 11%, and management aims to keep it below 10%. Volatility in 2025 resulted in a $680 million impairment loss on the company's books.

Over the past week, BitMine accelerated purchases, acquiring approximately 61,000 ETH. Board Chairman Tom Lee attributed the move to the conclusion of a market downturn phase. The firm also purchased 5,000 ETH directly from the Ethereum Foundation, allowing the Foundation to fund operations without selling tokens on the open market.
BitMine holds an additional $1.2 billion in cash and ranks second globally among corporate crypto reserve holders. Previously, short positions against Strategy shares had reached $6 billion against the company's $42 billion market capitalization.
